Based on everything I heard and read about him, he was a decent guy who always remained grounded.
From the first time I saw him on TV years ago, I liked him, felt a connection to him.
And now I'm feeling about as mortal as I've felt in a long time.
Tim Russert, dead at age 58.

Coming soon after our discussion about RFK, it seems that both of these deaths affected me similarly in two different areas.
Although both were influential, neither was as influential as they deserved to be considering how correct thier thinking was on so many things.
And both left voids that can't be filled. Obviously, people can never be replaced, but as with RFK, this is a hole that is not going to be filled in. I suspect that 20 years from now people will be asking; "what if Tim Russert had lived?"
